Removing Old Decal Lettering

Tools You’ll Need for the Job

  • Plastic Scraper
  • Rapid Remover/Goo-Gone
  • Heat Gun/Blow Dryer
  • Paper Towels
  • Windex

Clean Your Area

Before you start to remove your old decal, clean off the area with windex to remove any dirt trapped around the decal. This will make the whole process easier.

Removing the Decal

Begin by taking the plastic scraper to the edges of the decal. Start with the corners and slowly peal back the decal.

Avoid using real razors as this can scratch and damage the surface.

If you find the decal is difficult to remove, or keeps ripping as you peel off the decal, use a heat gun or blow dryer to soften the decal.

Once the decal has been removed, use rapid remover/goo-gone to clean of any left over adhesive residue.

Lastly, use windex to clean the surface.
